Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapist including provision of Mentalisation Based Therapy
It is an exciting time to join EPUT as we develop treatment pathways, new processes and therapeutic provisions to meet the needs of our clients with a diagnosis or traits of personality disorder. The successful candidate will work with this client group and those with other complex presentations.
The successful candidate will be joining teams of committed colleagues providing psychoanalytic based psychotherapy for clients with complex presentations. Group analytic/psychoanalytically based psychotherapy is a well-respected provision and recognised as a vital addition in the treatment of clients with personality disorders and complex presentations. In working with the transformation of services for clients with personality difficulties/disorders the group psychotherapist will provide both group analytic psychotherapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy as recommend by NICE guidance. The successful candidate will need to have either experience in providing MBT or a commitment to train and provide MBT both in individual and group sessions. The post holder will take a lead in developing this provision for clients in the Colchester locality. The post holder will support client access by conducting assessments for psychotherapy and making recommendations for the appropriate therapy.
Main duties of the job
Psychotherapy works closely with the local MDTs including the community mental health teams, older people's teams and the perinatal team, and psychology colleagues.
The successful candidate will be supported with peer supervision provided by a highly experienced group analyst and the medical psychotherapist, (clinical head of the psychotherapy provision) and will be encouraged to develop practice with appropriate CPD. The Psychotherapists in Colchester meet weekly for a case discussion
This is a senior level post and the post holder will be responsible to support the operational functioning of the service working closely with the medical psychotherapist and operational manager.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to be client focused, understand what is meant by trauma informed care, use this and their psychotherapeutic thinking in all clinical work interactions with colleagues, carers and other stakeholders at all times.
The successful candidate will deliver group analytic psychotherapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy, assessing with colleagues for the appropriate provision of each. You will be responsible for clinical administration of your caseload including maintaining notes, outcome measures and communication with all involved colleagues.
