Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic Arts Psychotherapist to join our inpatient Psychological Therapies team in Essex and to be split across 2 of our sites - The Linden Centre in Chelmsford and The Derwent Centre in Harlow. The post is 1 WTE, with 0.6 WTE being based at the Linden Centre and 0.4 WTE being based at the Derwent Centre. This is a 1 year fixed term post.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with a range of presenting needs, who has a commitment to supporting the development of Art Psychotherapies to increase the choice and access service users have to evidence-based psychological therapies. As part of this role, the successful candidate would also be supported to provide clinical placements to Art Psychotherapies trainees and will be supported in their own development via CPD opportunities and building of professional links with relevant university courses and professional bodies.

Main duties of the job
The role consists of delivery of specialist Arts Psychotherapy interventions for adults admitted to hospital in acute mental health crisis, working with individuals as well as groups. The role also involves working as part of the multi-disciplinary teams and providing consultation to our multi-disciplinary colleagues. Across the 2 sites at the Linden and Derwent Centre's there are 5 acute inpatient wards, a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) and a mother and baby unit (MBU).
Key aspects of the role will involve assessing service users in terms of suitability for arts psychotherapy and their presenting needs, as part of a comprehensive MDT assessment, providing and evaluating the effectiveness of Art Psychotherapy interventions (both individual and group interventions), Arts Psychotherapies formulations, managing risk and contributing to MDT discussions, contributing or leading on aspects of service development, undertaking audit and research and training others as appropriate and needed.
Applicants must be a qualified Arts Psychotherapist (art, music, movement or drama) and registered with the HCPC (UKCP for DMP's).

- Recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, social work and occupational therapy or other relevant experience and demonstrable competence to work in the mental health field.
- Post graduate qualification in one of the Arts Psychotherapies as approved by HCPC.

- Accreditation/Registration with relevant and appropriate professional body relevant to the arts modality
