We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologists who are seeking career progression and varied clinical roles in our well-established and dynamic Older People's Psychological Services in Mid Essex.
2.0 wte posts are available, we welcome applications from those who wish to work part time.
Newly qualified clinical/counselling psychologists or those who will be qualifying and achieving HCPC status this year are invited to apply under a preceptorship arrangement.
This is an exciting time to join our team as we co-produce and transform older people's services in Mid Essex to enable more accessible, integrated services that better meet the needs of our service-users. We are an experienced and innovative team of five qualified psychologists, four assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists. We provide comprehensive psychological assessment and interventions for older people with complex mental health needs and adults with dementia across inpatient and community mental health settings in Mid Essex. We also provide consultation and organisational development including reflective practice groups, training and consultation for our multi-disciplinary colleagues. We have close ties with local Doctoral Clinical Training Programmes and provide much valued older adult placements.
Main duties of the job
This post offers you diversity in clinical practice, supporting and enabling your professional development. You will provide direct psychological assessment and interventions for older people with complex mental health difficulties and dementia (and their families and wider systems), group interventions, neuropsychological assessment and work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary teams. You will provide supervision to assistant and trainee psychologists (dependent on experience). You will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior clinical psychologist and peer support from colleagues across Trust Older People's Psychological Services. Clinical research, teaching and specialised interests are actively encouraged and you will have opportunities to contribute to service improvement and develop your clinical leadership skills.
This post covers Mid Essex (Chelmsford, Maldon, Braintree areas). Our central hub is the Crystal Centre, a purposively built award winning home of Older Adults' mental health services in Chelmsford with good transport links and a staff car park. We are based on a main hospital site with a range of shops including coffee shops, proximity to excellent childcare providers and the grounds which offer beautiful gardens with lovely walks.
