Clinical/Counselling Psychologist /CBT Therapist, Older People's Psychological Services, Mid Essex

Band 8a (or 7-8a development post; dependent on experience/competence)

We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologists or CBT Therapists who are seeking career progression and a varied clinical role in our Older Adult Psychological Services in Mid Essex.

To support professional development, this post has a dedicated £6000 (max) CPD funding over 3 years, linked to individual appraisal in line with service objectives.

1.6 wte posts are available, we welcome applications from those who wish to work full-time or part-time.

Newly qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and CBT therapists or those who will be qualifying and achieving HCPC/BABCP registration soon are invited to apply to a Band 7-8a development post.

This is an exciting time for a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist with an interest in working with older people to join our team as we co-produce and transform older people's services in Mid Essex to enable more accessible, integrated services that better meet the needs of our service-users.

Main duties of the job

This post covers Mid Essex (Chelmsford, Maldon, Braintree areas). Our central hub is the Crystal Centre, a purposively built award winning home of Older Adults' mental health services in Chelmsford with good transport links and a staff car park. We are based on a main hospital site with a range of shops including coffee shops, proximity to excellent childcare providers and the grounds which offer beautiful gardens with lovely walks

This post offers you diversity in clinical practice, supporting and enabling your professional development. You will provide direct psychological assessment and interventions for older people with complex mental health difficulties and adults with dementia (and their families and wider systems) across inpatient and community settings. You will provide group interventions, neuropsychological assessment (dependent on skill/experience) and work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary teams, provide training and consultation and reflective practice groups. You will provide supervision to assistant and trainee psychologists (dependent on experience). You will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior clinical psychologist and peer support from colleagues across Trust Older People's Psychological Services. Clinical research, teaching and specialised interests are actively encouraged and you will have opportunities to contribute to service improvement and develop your clinical leadership skills.

We, the Mid Essex Older People's Psychological Services team, are a newly forming and expanding team of qualified, trainee and assistant psychologists, passionate about working with older adults and challenging ageism.   • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS; HCPC registration and eligible for registration with a an appropriate recognised professional clinical body (e.g. BPS) or Professional qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) accredited by BABCP (professional body)
  • Completed training to include models of psychopathology, neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD in relation to clinical speciality
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists/professionals
