Job responsibilities

To effectively triage and accept referrals to the service, liaisingwith other professionals and providing initial advice asappropriate.To provide comprehensive mental health and riskassessments of children, young people and theirfamilies/carers referred in crisis.To manage risk by putting in place care plans, safety & copingplans and other risk interventions in a variety of settings, e.g.at home, in the community or in hospital settingsTo provide brief evidence-based crisis interventions tochildren, young people and families referred to the service,that aim to prevent the need for admission or facilitate safeearly discharge from inpatient mental health wards or acuteservices including individual and group work To engage in assertive outreach work with children/youngpeople and their families where appropriate and inreach workwhere children/ young people are admitted.Based on assessments and reports convey sensitive,complex and sometimes unwelcome information topatients and other professionals about risks, both verballyand in written form, and manage this as constructively aspossible.

To liaise with and where appropriate participate in joint workwith other members of ICCS or other CAMHS clinicians.To liaise with the child, young person and familiesprofessional network, keeping them informed ofdevelopments, changes in risk status and promoting multiagency collaboration.To offer and provide a liaison and consultation service tomulti agency partners working with children, young peopleand their families/carers including advice to professionals increating management plans for children and young peoplepresenting with in crisis and/or complex and severe mentalhealth problems.To act as care coordinator for an identified caseload and tobe responsible for the coordination of assessment, planning,implementation and evaluation of therapeutic packages ofcare provided by ICCS. To manage a clinical caseloadindependently within appropriate clinical/professionalguidelines and to seek consultation where necessary withthe relevant line manager and lead clinicians of specialistteams.To act as a care coordinator in accordance with CPAguidelines within the CAMHS community setting.To provide packages of care, group-work and psychoeducation for the young people and their families/ carers thattakes account of the complexities of family systems and theirsignificant social networks.

To ensure that the needs of the client group is paramount,and to and adhere to local community and hospitalguidelines relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection.To ensure acceptable levels of safety (regarding potentialverbal and physical aggression from disturbed clients) forself and to advise other colleagues when necessary. Toadhere to the lone worker policy and update training inbreakaway techniques when necessary.To work jointly and collaboratively with other team membersin order to enhance and develop work with families byproviding highly specialist knowledge and skills.To be responsible for developing and maintainingknowledge of local resources and developing workingrelationships with relevant statutory, voluntary andcommunity groups and organisations.

Person Specification

Education / Training and Qualification

Essential

• Qualification in appropriate mental health Qualifications/ Application Training And professional Qualification such as Nursing, Psychotherapy, Psychology, Child Psychotherapy, Systemic Family Therapist, Occupational Therapy, Social Work.
• Registration with relevant UK governing Body.

Desirable

• Additional skills and trainings in specialist skills such CBT, DBT, Solution Focused therapy
• Experience of working in a culturally diverse and Inner city area

Skills and Experiences

Essential

• Experience of working with children, young people and their families with complex mental health needs, including vulnerable young people who present with high risk behaviours
• Skills and Evidence of well developed clinical skills and abilities in CAMHS, including mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions. Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary team / multi-agency liaison
• Experience of administering / completing Outcome Measures such as GBOs, CGAS

• Additional skills and trainings in specialist skills such CBT, DBT, Solution Focused therapy
