As an Inpatient Mental Health Occupational Therapist (Band 6), you will be an integral part of our established multi-disciplinary team. Your mission will be to collaboratively support older adults in achieving their goals and improving their quality of life. The post-holder will have excellent assessment and individual and group intervention skills, and will have the opportunity to provide client-centered assessments and interventions in a flexible and creative way. There are also opportunities to develop the service in line with Mental Health Community Transformation

Main duties of the job

To work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to assess and treat older people with dementia and/or mental ill health, facilitating discharge and enabling future accommodation/care needs to be identified in regard to individual preference and best interest.To be responsible for an appropriate caseload, providing OccupationalTherapy specific assessment, treatment/interventions via a range ofindividual and/or group treatments.To provide clinical supervision and support practice education when required.To contribute to the planning and evaluation of the Older People's MentalHealth services.

  • applied social, health and medical sciences required for the practice of Occupational Therapy including psychology, anatomy, physiology and sociology
  • applied psychological perspectives relevant to OT in mental health including behavioural, cognitive and humanistic perspectives
  • the theory and practice of occupational therapy including occupational science and holistic models of OT practice
  • specialist clinical skills in order to carry out OT interventions (e.g. interactive and activitybased interventions, cognitive behavioural interventions, psychosocial and psycho-educational interventions
