Specialty Grade Doctor for ICCS and CAMHS Crisis Team
This post has been developed for an innovative and enthusiastic Specialty Grade Doctor to provide psychiatry input to the East London CAMHS Crisis Team and ICCS which provides crisis assessments and brief interventions to young people presenting in crisis across the 3 East London Boroughs of Newham, Tower Hamlets and City & Hackney.
The Crisis team provide assessment and brief intervention to all young people presenting in crisis presenting to the hospital A&E departments, whereas the ICCS see young people at home and in the community supporting Community CAMHS services to provide intensive interventions that are designed to reduce the need for inpatient admission or support discharge from inpatient services. ICCS provides a gatekeeping function to all potential requests for inpatient admission. They liaise closely with the NCEL provider collaborative Patient Flow Team to review all referrals with a view to providing intervention in the community where possible to avoid unnecessary inpatient admissions.

Qualifications
Essential
- Medical graduation
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council
Desirable
- Higher degree
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines)
- Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983, or plan to gain approval within 6 months of appointment.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Child and adolescent mental health disorders and their management
- Use of outcome measurements
- Experience of pharmacological treatments
- Risk assessment and risk management
Desirable
- Experience of Quality Improvement projects & Clinical Audit
- Good working knowledge and experience of the application of the Mental Health Act
ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS/ ABILITIES
Essential
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, non verbal and written
- Develop effective working relationships
- Function autonomously as well as being a team player
- Assessing, formulating and prioritising patients' needs
