Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic psychology assistant to join the Hackney community mental health service.
You will work as part of the psychological therapies team that is embedded in the community mental health teams in the borough. We provide the full range of direct and indirect psychology services, including individual, group and family therapy, assessments, formulations, consultation, teaching, training and supervision.
The assistant post will involve conducting service user and team satisfaction surveys, audits, maintaining databases and the provision of psychological assessment, formulations and psychological interventions to service users under the supervision of team psychologists. The post holder would play an important role in consulting service users to improve the service e.g. through PREMS surveys and focus groups. We value service user consultation as a way for the service to embody cultural competence and trauma-informed care.
The assistant will contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and may become involved in Quality Improvement (QI) projects in either the multidisciplinary team or the psychology service. You will also conduct assessments and implement evidence-based individual and group interventions. You would be expected to work on-site for most of the time.

To provide specialist advice, within competence, concerning the formulation and treatment of clients under the care of the community mental health teams.
To support the work of other staff within the team through the delivery of teaching and training and through making available advice about specific psychological interventions.
To collate information and maintain databases relating to client care for the psychology team.
To undertake clinical audit and research activities as required.
To support service improvement by conducting service user and team satisfaction surveys. To consult service users, for example through PREMS surveys and focus groups, and give presentations to the team to ensure the service user's experiences and views shape the service development.
To participate in CPD and other developmental activities, keeping up to date with relevant psychological research and national guidelines.
To follow defined practices and procedures under the management and supervision of a qualified psychologist.
