Working with a well established, vibrant and friendly multidisciplinary communitymental health team covering Bedford specialising in providing high quality andevidence based care for older adults. The team specialises in assessment andtreatment of patients with complex, severe and enduring mental health conditionsand patients with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
Main duties of the job
Detailed duties in attached JD.o 10 PAso The speciality doctor will work closely with the consultant psychiatrist and MultiDisciplinary team, and will provide clinical support for the assessment andmanagement of mental health problems on a routine and emergency basis.o On average 9 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to DirectClinical Care. Care of patients in the community in North Mid Beds-Biggleswadearea, in the Functional Model.o Assess new referrals and review existing patients. 6 to 7 out-patient clinics perweek either at Spring House (Biggleswade CMHT) or designated GP Surgery.o Additional clinics to see patients in emergency &/ provide telephone contactwith patients and their carers to manage urgent queries

Essential
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the General Medical Council
Desirable
- Higher degree
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines)
- Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983, or plan to gain approval within 6 months of appointment.
