Job summary

Are you an OT who is looking to extend your expertise working with Adults with Learning Disabilites in the community? We are a small specialist adult Learning Disabilities (LD) health team, and are looking for someone who can bring in LD OT skills and knowledge, and transfer this to an adult LD setting. We are able to support professional development and provide supervision.

East London Foundation Trust is looking for a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist (OT), to join the Newham Health Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities (NHLD).We are a health team working primarily with individuals with severe - profound and multiple learning disabilities and people with moderate learning disabilities and complex needs.

This position is a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist post. This is a full time role, based in Stratford, London close to tube, rail and DLR stations, but flexible or part time hours would be considered.

You will be a valued part of an established, skilled and motivated Occupational Therapy Team, within the wider multi-disciplinary team composed of Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists/Behaviours Specialists and Psychiatrists.

Main duties of the job

The Occupational Therapy Team offers effective services, focusing on ensuring that the people they work with are able to engage in and participate in activities of daily living. The OT team has embraced innovative practice in relation to sensory work and functional assessment to ensure people are able to take part in activities that increase their independence and wellbeing. The OTs work with people and their supporters in a variety of places - people's homes, the community, day centres and educational settings.

You will have previous experience or transferrable skills for working with people who have learning disabilities, and a sound understanding of the legal frameworks relevant to people with learning disabilities. You will hold a clinical caseload, to be autonomous in carrying out assessment, intervention and evaluation of your OT work.

You will receive supervision and support from the Lead OT and Deputy Team manager. We will offer a friendly work environment, a broad range of clinical experience, clinical supervision, internal and external training sessions, and support for CPD and career development.
