Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a Lead for the Complex Emotional Needs pathway which spans across the Neighbourhoods (Primary Care Networks), Acute Service, and Specialist Psychotherapy Services within City and Hackney.

As part of a job share with the existing post holder (0.6WTE), we are looking for an experienced psychologist or psychological therapist, who has delivered psychological treatments within a complex healthcare setting, for service users who often present with severe difficulties within regulating emotions, heightened interpersonal insecurity and sensitivity, and can often act impulsively in ways that are maladaptive, presenting a high degree of clinical risk and who may attract a diagnosis of Personality Disorder or complex developmental trauma.

The post-holder will be responsible for the clinical and operational aspects of Specialist MBT & Outreach arm of the City & Hackney Specialist Psychotherapy Service (SPS), ensuring that in conjunction with the Psychological Therapies Lead they co-ordinate, develop and manage the service's strategic and operational plans, including the development of the Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) pathway/matrix within the local community mental health transformation plan to organize community mental health services around primary care networks/neighborhoods.

Main duties of the job

This leadership role part of a job share. It provides operational and clinical leadership to therapists within the MBT and CEN team in City & Hackney. It is also a key contributor to the Integrated Care System (ICS) which works in integrated ways with other health and social care agencies/professionals, and whilst continuing to offer the specialist modality-specific treatments that it has developed expertise for in innovative ways beyond the clinic and into the broader health, social care and wellbeing framework.

This roleassists the Consultant Psychological Lead for Adult Secondary Care Psychological Services and the SPS Operational Lead to ensure clinical expertise and governance is in place across the borough. The post-holder will be responsible for leading on the co-ordination and development of the specialist modality-specific treatments offered by the team and in coordinating the complex emotional needs pathway by providing consultation and training to the staff and service users of the ward environments in the the Mental Health Unit.

They will ensure that appropriate supervisionstructures are maintained to support the delivery of specialist psychological therapy treatments to the complex population served.

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or equivalent (statement of equivalence (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and able to demonstrate eligibility for BPS CPsychol (Chartered Psychologist)
  • Qualified Pyschotherapist
  • HCPC or other psychotherapy qualification Registration
  • MBT Training

Desirable

  • MBT Supervision Training
  • Attended Supervision Training

Experience

Essential

  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified Clinical or Counselling or Forensic psychologist at a highly specialist level or assessed experience of working as a qualified psychotherapist, including post qualification experience as a Mentalisation-Based psychotherapist, preferably in the NHS or similar public health provider.
  • Demonstrate further specialist experience through CPD including supervised practice supplemented with other activities such as training, self directed study and conferences relevant to the current state of the speciality.
  • Experience of Management and supervision of staff
  • Audit and Quality Improvement Experience
  • Experience of working in Personality Disorder/Complex Emotional Needs/Complex Trauma Service
