Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will lead and manage the podiatry team, ensuring high standards of clinical care.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Provide and support junior podiatrist and other team members.
  • Lead our innovative homeless project, providing specialized podiatry care to vulnerable populations.
  • Support the Podiatrist covering clinic for homeless population to develop and implement strategies to improve foot health and overall well-being of homeless individuals. Work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care is delivered.
  • Manage and provide expert care to podiatry team in triaging and treating variety of urgent foot and lower limbs conditions. Ensure timely and effective interventions to prevent complications and promote recovery
  • Lead our nail surgery service, performing and supervising surgical procedures. Ensure podiatry team adheres to best practices and maintain high standards of surgical and post-operative care to patients.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality standards.
  • Participate in audit, research, and service development, and quality improvement activities of podiatry service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will lead the delivery of Podiatry services for patients in Tower Hamlets.

The post holder will have the responsibility of developing clinical standards and protocols of care inline with community and service needs, and will be responsible for coordinating clinical trials andincorporating new treatment methods into the management of all aspects of Biomechanical foot care.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering and coordinating the Podiatric care to patients atMile End Hospital, liaising and working in collaboration with Specialist Consultants and otherhealthcare professionals within a multidisciplinary environment. They will be expected toindependently assess new patients, developing care programs for implementation by themselves andother staff according to the departmental referral and treatment criteria.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality clinical care to patients in outpatientenvironments and have regular input into Tissue Viability clinics.

The post holder shares the role of deputizing for the Service Manager, and assumes all responsibilities pertaining to that role in the absence of the Service Manager.

  • HCPC registered Podiatrist
  • Extensive post qualification experience in podiatry, with proven expertise in nail surgery and emergency care
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Knowledge of NHS statutory obligations, professional guidelines and framework

Desirable

  • Recognized management training and experience
  • Experience in managing finance, performance, and development of business case

  • Significant and demonstrable experience as a highly specialist clinician and as a manager in the NHS within a role involving operational responsibility
