We are looking to recruit substantive or locum consultants to our Community Paediatric team in Newham for 2024.
These posts are an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team within a multidisciplinary Community Child Health service in East London:
Post 1 - Consultant Community Paediatrician (up to 10PA)
Post 2 - Consultant Community Paediatrician with role as Medical Advisor for Adoption & Fostering for Newham (up to 10 PA)
Main duties of the job
The postholders will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service within Specialist Children & Young People's Services and will include responsibilities in the following areas:
(i) Clinical activities: a. Consultant clinics and related administrative work b. Clinical triage of referrals c. Clinical supervision as Consultant of the Day d. MDT clinical discussions or meetings e. Any clinical patient-related meetings
(ii) Teaching: a. To contribute to departmental teaching b. To contribute to teaching of medical students particularly in relation to community child health services
(iii) Management and leadership: a. Clinical Supervision b. Clinical governance c. Management supervision d. Pathway leadership
(iv) Audit, Quality Improvement and Service Development
In the role of Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering, the postholder would be expected to conduct Adult Medicals for prospective adopters and provide input to the Adoption Panel, and medical reports for children and young people being adopted. The Medical Advisor will work closely with the Named Doctor for LAC and the rest of the LAC team undertaking health assessments of children and young people who come into care.
