Occupational Therapist - Band 5 opportunities available:

Excellent Team Work skills and a thorough understanding of integrated, shared care approach is expected from the successful applicant. As part of the Neighbourhood Team, you are expected to deliver improvements aligned to the implementation of the Community Mental Health Framework for Adults and Older Adults.

Clinical Supervision and Professional Development plans will be provided to the successful applicant. The successful applicant will also be offered the opportunity to complete the Improvement Leaders Programme as part of Quality Improvement ELFT.

Main duties of the job

  • To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of own professional activities
  • To adhere apply the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Occupational Therapists (College of Occupational Therapists 2010)
  • To independently manage a caseload of complex cases providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention to clients with complex physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs arising from their medical conditions. To provide this service in clients' homes working closely with the client, their family/carer or other professionals
  • To establish a therapeutic relationship with the client and his/her family/carers to gain their participation in the therapeutic process
  • To assess for and diagnose any functional, physical, cognitive, perceptual and sensory deficits using specialised standardised and non-standardised assessment batteries
  • Based on the analysis of the assessment and a risk analysis, to determine occupational therapy aims and treatment goals, in collaboration with the client/family/carers
  • To develop highly specialised occupational therapy treatment programmes in collaboration with clients, carers and other involved professionals (e.g. physiotherapists, nurses, home care agencies)
  • To plan, coordinate and deliver client-centred interventions using the principles of graded activity and a range of treatment techniques e.g. functional and remedial activities, splinting, equipment provision, education and health promotion
