Tower Hamlets Talking Therapies is a high profile NHS Talking Therapies Service based in East London. We have provided psychological therapy services to general practice and the local community for over 30 years. We are a stepped care service offering evidence based interventions at steps 2 and 3 . Our team consists of Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, High-Intensity CBT therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. As a service, we actively encourage different theoretical interests and offer specialist areas of development such as LTC/Eating Disorders/Perinatal. We are a proactive and forward looking service, with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of the diverse community where we are located.

We are looking for suitable candidate to provide maternity leave cover for our 8b Deputy Clinical lead post (Modalities). This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 8 CBT therapist; Psychologist or Psychotherapist who is looking to progress into a senior management and leadership role. The post holder will be joining a supportive senior management team and work closely with our other experienced deputy clinical lead.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be one of the two Deputy Leads. Both Deputies share the majority of core service, strategic and staff management tasks but each will lead on different clinical and service areas. This post will provide clinical, strategic and performance leadership for all High Intensity modalities, i.e. CBT , relational therapies; Long-term Health conditions (LTC) and eating disorders pathway. The post-holder will also perform responsibilities delegated by the Clinical Lead as appropriate for this level of seniority.

Under the directions of the Clinical Lead, the post holder will work closely and jointly with the counterpart Deputy Clinical Lead to maintain and further develop the full integration of the service (i.e. staff and performance management, interventions across steps, modalities and clinical specialist areas).

It is crucial that the post-holder possesses adaptive clinical, managerial and strategic abilities to support the Clinical Lead and their strategies for the day-to-day running of the service and future expansion/ service development as guided by wider Health strategies and demands.

About us

Due to the size of the service, the two Deputies are expected to manage an equal share of Managers (8As) as well as pan-service leadership and development tasks. As guided by the service's strategies, the Deputy Leads will collaborate with one another to develop and deliver seamless interventions across steps, modes (individual, groups, classes, etc.), and specialist clinical areas.

It is crucial that the post-holder possesses adaptive clinical, managerial and strategic abilities to support the Clinical Lead and their strategies for the day-to-day running of the service and future expansion/ service development as guided by wider Health strategies and demands.

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential

  • Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and registered with HPC.
  • Or - BABCP accredited CBT Therapist
  • Or - UKCP/BACP accredited Psychotherapist
  • Above plus: Post-graduate qualification in a therapeutic modality.

Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years' experience of working in NHS Talking Therapies service as a senior clinician and manager, including performance and case management.
  • Experience in primary care, liaising with GPs and community providers.
  • Experience of service development and of embedding new organisational models, services and pathways.
  • Experience in referral processes that support the assessment of clients and patients, and, to plan and coordinate the capacity provided by psychological therapists and clinicians for assessment across therapy modalities.
  • Work as an experienced psychologist/psychotherapist with advanced skills in at least one psychological therapy modality.
  • Experience of managing and supervising workforce from different backgrounds.
  • Excellence and experience in the continuous improvement of high intensity interventions and coordinating the services of a range of practitioners and providers, with experience of delivering this within primary care and an NHS Talking Therapies compliant service.
