We are excited to announce an opportunity to shape a novel role for pharmacy within community mental health care. This role has been developed as part of East London Foundation NHS Trusts ambitious Community Transformation Programme, developed to redesign and improve the way mental health care services are delivered for our population.
Main duties of the job
You'll be embedded within newly formed mental health Neighbourhood teams across the borough working to support service users in new models of care, supporting medicines optimisation and safety in Newham. This will involve medicines consultations with service users, provision of psychotropic medicines information and performing medication reviews. The post-holder will support in scoping and mapping mental health pharmacy roles and responsibilities in new and emerging areas, and lead on projects to improve care for our service users. The post-holder will deliver education and training for primary care colleagues to increase knowledge and confidence around psychotropic medications. The role will involve line-management of other colleagues and there will be opportunities for non-medical prescribing.
We are looking for an experienced mental health pharmacist with a passion for improving access to, and quality of mental health care in the community setting, who can display innovation and bring ideas to extend the boundaries of the pharmacy profession.

- Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy (4 years or equivalent)
- Significant post registration training relevant to mental health pharmacy
- Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Psychiatry qualification (or willing to work towards this)

- Non medical prescribing qualification (or working towards this)
