The East London Foundation NHS Trust is looking for an experienced Senior Psychosocial Intervention Practitioner who can contribute to the provision of evidence-based psychological interventions for service users with a diagnosis of psychosis or bipolar affective disorder (BPAD) within City and Hackney.
The borough was an early-implementer site for the Community Mental Health Transformation of mental health services. We established eight separate Neighbourhood Teams which are intended to offer a place-based service responsive to local needs. More recently a Neighbourhood Recovery Service has been established. This offers a more intensive multidisciplinary level of mental health care to service users who need a care co-ordinated level of support. The Neighbourhood Recovery Service works closely with the Neighbourhood Teams, and service users can be stepped up and stepped down from one level of support to another depending on their needs.
You will work as part of the Neighbourhood Recovery Service psychology team. We comprise clinical and counselling psychologists, three senior psychosocial intervention practitioners, an assistant psychologist and trainee psychologists. We are embedded within the Neighbourhood Recovery Service (NRS), a multidisciplinary team which was formed out of the old Recovery CMHTs in the borough. Our psychology team provide a service to service users under the care of the NRS.
Main duties of the job
The post is designed to contribute to the provision of psychological therapies for people with a diagnosis of psychosis or bipolar affective disorder who are under the care of community mental health services in City and Hackney. The post is based in the Neighbourhood Recovery Service, a community mental health service providing care coordinated level of support, and will involve providing psychological interventions to service users under both the Neighbourhood Recovery Service, and one of the Neighbourhood Teams.
The post will involve offering evidence-based psychological interventions such as cognitive behavior therapy for psychosis (CBTp) and behavioural family interventions (BFI) as part of the psychology team. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the psychology service's group programme.
As a Senior PSI post, it is expected the post holder will contribute at a training / supervision level. This could involve providing training and supervision in BFI to Trust staff, or else in supervising individual therapists in delivering CBTp.
