Community Mental Health Nurse Recovery Worker (CPN)

The Community Recovery Team North, which is located in the London Borough of Newham, is offering an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking and highly motivated Band 6 Nurse Recovery Worker (CPN) in our busy and stimulating multi-disciplinary service. We welcome all applications from Registered Mental Health Nurses with relevant skills and experience at Band 5 or above.

The advertised vacancies have become available due to some promotional opportunities for existing staff members, with training and development being a core element of support within the team.

The Community Recovery Team North provides care coordination recovery treatment for adults aged 18 - 65yrs over a fixed period. The service is intended for Service Users that need more focused recovery work in the context of severe and enduring mental illness and/or complex mental health needs. Service users will have specific recovery goals in mind and the team supports them to step down to primary care services when appropriate, ideally within 3 years.

The team believes passionately in offering the best quality care in the least restrictive manner; in actively and creatively engaging service users using recovery-based interventions; providing care which is compassionate and sensitive to the diverse population of the local area and fostering an approach which accepts and embraces the uniqueness of each service user.

Main duties of the job

Within your monthly allocated workload, you will be required to carry a designated caseload of Service Users (CPA and Non-CPA cases), work within the Recovery Team duty system as part of a duty rota while assisting Clinical Lead Nurses in completing the initial screening of referrals as part of the duty role. The majority of cases in the service are allocated to care coordinators or other health Care Practitioners, which minimises the need for duty worker input.

The role requires effective communication and an ability to liaise with a range of local social services or other mental health services e.g. Home Treatment Team etc. You will therefore need to have applicable knowledge and experience within mental health services appropriate to meet the role requirements as defined within the Job Description.

About us

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
