Senior Schools CAMHS Practitioner (with responsibility for children who are excluded or at risk of being excluded)

We are looking for an experienced Senior CAMHS Practitioner (please refer to JDPS) to join our team. You will be part of a vibrant expanding workforce that is committed to close collaborative working across our local schools and external partners.

Main duties of the job

This is a community-based post, designed specifically to work alongside, and support the mental health needs of children and young people who are excluded or at risk of being excluded. This could be due to significant conduct related difficulties such as exclusion from mainstream schooling, anti-social and/or offending behaviour and conduct disorder. The post holder will work closely with the North Bedfordshire School Pathway staff as part of a Team Around the Child Approach. The post-holder will provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and individual therapeutic interventions using models such as NVR, SFBT, CBT, as well as staff training and consultation.

This post will sit within our North Bedfordshire CAMHS Schools Pathway and the broader CAMH Access Services, with a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within schools including special educational provisions. Working alongside our community partners our Schools Offer will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings supporting multiple Specialist provisions and Secondary Schools across Bedford offering short-term interventions. The CAMH Service delivers the national Thrive framework for CAMH, with this post (along with other CAMH Access Services) delivering the first two quadrants, namely, Giving Advice and Getting Help.

About us

To support you in this role, you will receiveregular, separate clinical and management supervision sessions, access to a variety of CPD sessions, and annual performance appraisals.The work of the teamis managed and supervised by the Schools Pathway Team Operational Lead which is strongly supported by our experienced CAS Clinical Lead and Lead for Psychological Therapies whom is involved in all aspects of professional and service development.
