Legacy Mentor Occupational Therapist for Mental Health Services, Luton & Bedfordshire
12-month fixed-term secondment, 15 hours per week.
Base to be confirmed on appointment
Do you have a passion for supporting newly qualified OT's to develop into confident, competent and engaged team members? Are you looking to develop new skills of your own and develop the new & exciting role of the legacy mentor in the L&B OT service?
Main duties of the job
As a legacy mentor, you will be offering one-to-one and group support to newly-qualified OT's who join the L&B OT mental health service and supporting them to find their way, gain skills and confidence and navigate the many new processes they will be learning. The transition from student to practitioner can be daunting and a warm, empathetic, supportive mentor can make all the difference. The legacy mentor will be supporting the retention of OT's not just in the service, but in the profession as a whole.
You will also be expected to provide some clinical advice within your specialism and offer shadowing experience to the newly-qualified OT's in the service. You will identify issues and concerns early on and highlight them to the relevant managers and teams so that they can be addressed safely and effectively.
About us
You will continue to receive supervision within your current role, but as a legacy mentor you will also have access to the following:
- peer support and shadowing with other legacy mentors in the service/Trust;
- regular meetings with other legacy mentors;
- supervision, coaching and mentoring to support you in your new role
Regular CPD and networking opportunities will also be available with the wider OT service.
