Family and Systemic Psychotherapist
AfC Band 8a or Band 7 to 8a Preceptorship up to 18 months
We currently have funding approval for a Band 8a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist and are looking for either a band 8a or preceptorship role form Band 7 to Band 8a.

The Coborn Centre is a renowned child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) unit located in Newham, East London. We are part of a collaborative of inpatient and community CAHM services across North Central East London (NCEL). The Coborn is a Tier 4 CAMHS mental health service that supports young people aged 12- 18 and works closely with families, schools, local authorities and various community teams.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will join the Lead Family Therapist to complete the family therapy team working in a tier 4 CAMHS service. You will continue to develop the family therapy provision by providing family therapy and family based interventions with families who come into contact with the service. This includes supporting the formulation and wider MDT's assessment process, managing a case load of families and undertaking family therapy, offering reflective practice to colleagues, helping in the development of a family therapy clinic, care management of a small number of young people in addition to working alongside a busy and vibrant MDT. Your expertise will be drawn upon to help manage complex and challenging mental health presentations within a service that holds value to the systemic approach and thinking. Your clinical expertise will be drawn upon to help with wider systems thinking both internally in relation to the work undertaken within the Coborn and also externally when working with partners in the community.
This role will also offer the opportunity to provide leadership development as there will be opportunities supervision to non-therapy MDT members, facilitate reflective practice, contribute to and facilitate complex case discussions, training and development, contribution to the care pathways development and offering clinical consultation to the service.
About us
The Coborn Centre is located in well resourced, purpose built premises at Newham University Hospital. We work with 12-18 year old young people and their families across the East London boroughs of Newham, Hackney & Tower Hamlets as well as Luton and Bedfordshire and other London boroughs. The Centre comprises of 12 acute beds, 15 intensive care beds and up to 8 day patient places. The service has led the way in the design of adolescent mental health facilities nationally. We have been awarded an excellent by the QNIC accreditation process and outstanding by the CQC.
The client group is varied and challenging. Young people present with eating disorders, psychosis, low mood, anxiety disorders such as OCD and emotion regulation difficulties. Young people may also have autism or learning difficulties or be in need of an assessment and young people may also have physical health needs. We work alongside an eclectic and dynamic multi-disciplinary staff group including family therapists, arts therapist, psychologists, social workers, nursing, occupational therapists and many more to support young people and their families through acute and chronic mental health difficulties.
