Clinical / Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist - Band 7, Tower Hamlets Early Intervention Service / Tower Hamlets Early Detection Service, 1 wte

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated HCPC - registered clinical / counselling psychologist or BAPC registered CBT Therapist, with experience in delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), to work within the Tower Hamlets Early Intervention (THEIS) and Tower Hamlets Early Detection (THEDS) services.

Candidates within three months of registration with HCPC or BABCP will be considered for shortlisting.

Tower Hamlets Early Intervention Service (THEIS) an early intervention in psychosis service for adults aged 18-65 years old from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, experiencing first onset in psychosis. We provide a range of psychosocial interventions working within the care programme approach framework in collaboration with service users, carers and other relevant agencies. The interventions are offered in individual, group and family contexts, and commonly require an assertive outreach approach. THEIS is an expanding multi-disciplinary team and this is an exciting time to join the service with opportunities for service development work.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical

Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulation and interventions, across community and inpatient settings, including both individual interventions (e.g., CBT for psychosis) and family work.

Undertake risk assessment and management as needed.

Provide expertise and psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other multidisciplinary professionals.

Use theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in the activities of the teams.

Administer neuropsychological assessments (dependent on training), including ability to select appropriate tests and interpret and communicate the results in accessible language for the client and other team members with suggestions for appropriate intervention or support.

Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, distressing and emotional information in relation to mental health issues, where there are often barriers to acceptance

Be mindful of the needs of individuals and families from a wide range of racial, cultural, sexual, religious and social backgrounds and, with service users and colleagues, co-produce innovative ways of communicating and working across language and cultural barriers. .

  • Or Accredited training as a CBT Therapist, to a Master's Degree Level and Core mental health profession, or demonstrable working knowledge of NHS values, clinical structures in secondary mental health care, referral pathways, how services are funded and the roles of NHS professionals

Experience

  • Experience of work in the NHS in secondary mental health care.

  • Ability to provide a culturally-competent and nonstigmatising service including an awareness of the potential impact of discrimination and disadvantage on mental health.
