Band 7 Child Psychotherapist working in primary schools
Open to: Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists (CAPs) who are registered with the ACP and Counselling/Clinical Psychologists with appropriate registration for work in the NHS.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist/ Counselling or Clinical Psychologist with CAMHS experience and an interest in delivering psychodynamic treatment in primary schools, to work in the socially and ethnically diverse borough of Newham.
Applicants who have experience and an appreciation of some of the richness and complexities of working inter-culturally are welcomed. This post is part of a comprehensive Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, within the East London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be part of a stimulating and supportive multidisciplinary child and adolescent mental health team. There is a strong commitment to clinical supervision and professional development within CAMHS and the wider NHS Foundation Trust including many learning and teaching opportunities.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible ACP Registered Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist (CAP) or BPS registered Psychologist with experience of working with children in a CAMHS setting, to continue and further develop our Therapeutic Outreach in Primary Schools service (TOPS). The post-holder will spend one day a week (12 months funding expected to be renewed annually) in a primary school which has a long history of having a CAMHS clinician on site. Alongside the school's work the post-holder will offer 8 clinical sessions (permanent) in the multi-disciplinary team of Newham CAMHS Emotional and Behavioural Care Pathway and the Child Psychotherapy Team for a CAP applicant.
Experience of work in schools and/or other non-clinical settings is desirable.
The team of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in Newham CAMHS currently comprises 5 ACP Child Psychotherapists including two Parent Infant Psychotherapists, and additionally 2 Trainee Child Psychotherapists. Members of the team have sessions based in a range of the clinic's MDTs and outreach services and this post will offer an expansion of existing Child Psychotherapy provision.
This post is supported within Newham CAMHS for case management and supervision, and by MDT discussion where required. The team of Child Psychotherapists meets weekly for clinical and business discussion.
The nature of the post in the school (TOPS) requires that Annual Leave is taken outside term time.
