Band 7 - Admiral Nurse

Are you passionate about families affected by dementia and looking to develop new and exciting ways of working and sharing skills across Community Health Newham?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 6-months for a Band 7 to work as the Community Health Newham Admiral Nurse to improve the quality of care received by families affected by dementia.

Admiral Nurses are registered nurses who specialise helping people with dementia, their family and carers gain the necessary skills to assist with dementia care, promoting positive approaches to living well andimproving the quality of life for everyone involved.

You will work alongside the community teams in Community Health Newham supporting families in their own homes including palliative care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on the delivery of the care with ongoing regular supervision and support from Dementia UK with further professional development opportunities.

We are looking for an individual who can develop effective and collaborative working with families, healthcare and multi-agency colleagues. The post is open to RGN / RMN who relevant experience.

This is a 37.5hrs hours per week post (5 days per week Monday-Friday.)

Main duties of the job

The Admiral Nurse will lead, deliver and coordinate relationship-centred dementia care within operational areas of Community Health Newham, in order to improve the experience of carers/families affected by dementia[1] with complex needs.

In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency framework at an enhanced specialist level, the post holder will provide:

  • Specialist bio-psychosocial assessment and support for people with dementia and families with complex needs
  • Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care
  • Clinical leadership with policy development and quality improvements in relation to dementia care
  • Ensure care pathways are being developed across Newham and wider integrated care system which are designed to meet the needs of people with dementia and their careers.
  • Work clinically where appropriate, ensuring that the professional standards for nurses are upheld in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council: The Code.
  • Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia
  • Leadership and management to a team of Admiral Nurse within Community Health Newham
