Band 6 Psychiatric Liaison Nurse- Secondment Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a practitioner to join the well-established Mental Health Liaison and Psychological Medicine Team at Newham University Hospital as a Band 6 Psychiatric Liaison Nurse.
This role will benefit a practitioner who is looking for a new challenge and to develop their clinical skills. The post holder will provide specialist mental health input, support and conduct full mental health assessments & management plans for people that are referred to our team from the general wards and the Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the Newham MH Liaison and Psychological Medicine Team, which forms part of Newham's Crisis Pathway; the team follows the principles of "Rapid Assessment Interface Discharge" which is a model of psychiatric liaison serving the Newham University Hospital including the Emergency Department and inpatient wards at the Newham University Hospital

Essential
- Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Current Professional Registration
- ENB 998 or equivalent
- Evidence of continual professional development
Desirable
- Recognised post graduate qualifications in a specialist area of adult or older adult mental health
Experience
Essential
- Substantial post qualification experience in the field of adult and/or older adult
- Previous experience at working at senior level
- Previous experience at working autonomously
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary mental health team
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and of ensuring that nursing practice is culturally sensitive
- Extensive and demonstrable experience of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, particularly in an acute care or older adult community setting
- Essential and demonstrable experience of writing concise and clear clinical reports

- Demonstrate an understanding of how to promote the rights, responsibilities and recovery of adults and/or older adults with mental health problems
- Demonstrate a full understanding of the key issues and priorities relating to the provision of liaison mental health services in an acute hospital for aged 16 years and over
- Demonstrate an understanding of the expectations, pressures and demands of an acute inner city hospital, wards and Registered care homes.
