Job summary

City & Hackney Centre for Mental Health is a Mental Health Hospital based at Homerton Hospital that provides assessment and treatment for male and female individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties who are aged under 65. The service sets out to provide effective mental health care to help service users recover from a mental health crisis, and support their rehabilitation to get back on track with their lives.

An opportunity has arisen within our in-patient wards for enthusiastic and innovative Band 6 - Clinical Practice Lead Nurses to join our busy and motivated team across all inpatient wards. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead on continuous development and improvement of nursing in providing high quality care for service users. It also calls for visible and inclusive leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary team and other teams across the service.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be enthusiastic, forward thinking and have a keen interest in working with patients being nursed in acute mental health wards. Our expectation is that you will be highly motivated and dynamic and able to demonstrate quality therapeutic interactions with service users.

You will work closely with members of the wider multi-disciplinary team to offer recovery focused individual and group work with service users with a wide range of needs.

Main duties of the job

To co-ordinate and provide care and treatment to an identified group of patients without direct supervision. In addition, supporting junior staff in delivery of care provision.

To manage and organise work as required.

Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice for service users with complex needs, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.

Contribute to the development of high quality evidence based in-patient services in a changing health care environment.

Contribute towards ensuring that the ward functions as an integral part of the Directorate's services.

Effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.

To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.

To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.

To provide clinical leadership and supervision to the staff group in order to promote and develop excellence in practice.
