Job summary
We are looking to recruit a full-time HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work in our innovative model of care in Woodberry Wetlands Primary Care Network (PCN) covering a maternity post for 12 months.
Context: Woodberry Wetlands Primary Care Network is a group of 4 high performing GP Practices working together to help benefit their diverse local patient population of 33,450. Woodberry Wetlands PCN has the largest projected increase in population in the next 10 years and has a relatively young population. Within Woodberry Wetlands PCN there are relatively high rates of SMI as well as referrals to IAPT
Role: This is an exciting new opportunity and role which is jointly funded by the Primary Care Network (PCN) and East London Foundation Trust (ELFT), which will be embedded in both the PCN Multidisciplinary Team, and also the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team which spans primary and secondary care in the locality. This newly created post offers a unique opportunity for the post-holder to carve out a role and work innovatively in providing a psychological service for Woodberry Wetland PCN.
Main duties of the job
As a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will be based in 4 GP practices support with assessment and the delivery of short-term psychological interventions to the local population of Woodberry Wetland PCN. The post is not organised around diagnostic categories, and will involve working with people who experience a range of psychological distress, often alongside social and physical health problems, regardless of the label this may attract. The post holder will support residents who are currently managed by their GP, and provide brief interventions to support them to self-manage care.
The role will also require supporting local GP practices to help rebuild and reconnect healthcare team across the communities they serve, and provide targeted care according to the needs of the population by supporting the PCN clinical strategy and consultation. The post is suitable for a psychologist who is keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough with people from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds who have various complex mental health difficulties.
Although we are looking to recruit to a full-time post we would consider part-time or flexible working.

- oPostgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or counselling Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
- oRegistered with Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist
- oClinical supervision training for doctoral clinical /counselling psychology trainees.
Experience
Essential
- oDemonstrable experience of working therapeutically in mental health settings directly with service users with severe and complex needs e.g. Complex trauma, social deprivation, substance misuse etc.
- oExperience of working with people with co-morbid mental health and substance misuse problems, complex trauma and significant difficulties in the area of interpersonal functioning.
- oExperience of psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of service users across the full range of multidisciplinary care settings
- oAt least two years' experience of work in the NHS
- oDeveloping collaborative, effective risk assessment and management plan.
- oExperience of facilitating different types of therapeutic interventions, individually or within groups.
Desirable
