Job summary
The East London Community Forensic Service (ELCFS) is an enhanced multidisciplinary service providing care, treatment and support for service users in the process of and following discharge from the Forensic inpatient services in the boroughs of Hackney and Newham. This model of service is now being expanded to other ELFT (Tower Hamlets) and NELFT (Redbridge, Waltham forest, Havering and Barking & Dagenham) boroughs covered by ELCFS.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two carer to carer peer support workers to work in our service for 1 day a week (7.5hrs).
The successful candidate will use their direct, personal, lived experience of using mental health services as a carer to work collaboratively with the clinical team to support identified carers
The successful candidate will work as integral and highly valued member of the Multi disciplinary team to facilitate and lead on carer-centres activities, which inspire hope and opportunities for carers. In addition, you would work collaboratively with carers to provide education and support as their loved ones make the critical transition from hospital into the community.
The successful candidate will be providing service to one or more of the NELFT or ELFT localities covered by ELCFS.

Main duties of the job
The East London Community Forensic Service (ELCFS) is multidisciplinary service providing care, treatment and support for service users in the process of and following discharge from the Forensic inpatient services in the boroughs of Hackney and Newham. This model of service is now being expanded to other ELFT and NELFT boroughs covered by ELCFS.
The overarching aims of the ELCFS are 1. to provide INREACH support to help service users move safely towards discharge and so reduce length of stay in secure care, and 2. to provide enhanced support in the community and so promote sustained recovery and quality of life in the community, reducing recalls to hospital. There are a number of components to the service model that the team strive to address with service users, these include: developing skills and competencies, supporting service users in accommodation, accessing education and employment, managing substance misuse, access to psychological and recovery focused therapies, working with carers, access to peer mentorship, and the development of care pathways and system relationships.
