As a CAMHS Social Worker at the Coborn, you will contribute to the delivery of multi - agency CAMHS for children and young people with complex mental health needs, bringing a social care perspective to the team. Supporting and protecting children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families will be at the heart of all you do by providing a range of interventions including: consultation reflection joint case working participation in case reviews assessment of need mental health assessments care planning and intervention
Main duties of the job
You will join our existing dedicated senior social worker and work alongside the senior management team, as well as hold a clinical case load. There will be considerable opportunities for developing your clinical leadership skills, sharing your clinical expertise and enjoying multi-disciplinary team working. We are committed to staff development and reflective practice, with considerable resources in the Team and wider trust to support this.
About us
The Coborn Centre is located in well-resourced, purpose-built premises at Newham University Hospital. We work with 12-18-year-old young people and their families across the East London boroughs of Newham, Hackney & Tower Hamlets as well as Luton and Bedfordshire and other London boroughs.
The Centre comprises of 12 acute beds, 16 intensive care beds and up to 8 day patient places. The psychology team each work across all parts of the centre. The service has led the way in the design of adolescent mental health facilities nationally. We have been awarded an excellent by the QNIC accreditation process and outstanding by the CQC

Education, Training and Qualifications
Essential
- A qualification in Social Work and current registration.
- At least 2 year of post-qualifying experience in a statutory Children's Social Care setting
Experience & Training
Essential
- Working knowledge of the framework within which social care operates, inclusive of legislation and national guidance and procedures specific to this post
- Knowledge of statutory work with children, including children in need, child protection, children looked after and court work. Knowledge of different types of interventions in family support
- Knowledge of diverse communities and their needs. Understanding of patterns of discrimination and methods of redressing them
- Experience of working with complex professional networks
- Substantial experience of working with children with challenging behaviour, their families and wider networks
- Experience of working with children and young people in an emotionally demanding environment
- Experience with working with children and young people and their families in a therapeutic context
- Substantial experience of working with children, young people and families in emotional crisis
- Knowledge and experience with working with safeguarding issues and serious mental health problems, including challenging behaviour

- Knowledge of and skill in using a wide variety of CAMH theories and interventions and the ability to use these appropriately in relation to client need and work setting

- Knowledge of current guidelines and recommendations of assessment and treatment of adolescents with psychotic breakdown and illness, serious clinical depression with risks of self-harm and suicide, with severe eating disorders and of adolescents who abuse drugs and are dangerous and acting out
