Bedfordshire Community Health Services are looking for Band 7 Podiatrist who is passionate and committed to providing high quality care in our Diabetic foot clinic based in Bedford Hospital.
Our Podiatry service is a diverse, supportive and innovative team and our work has been included in three national guides published by NHS England and NHS Benchmarking. This has included :-
Collaborative care home training project tackling pressure ulcer prevention and diabetic foot disease.
Diabetes transformation reducing amputations and bed nights,

We are looking for experienced professionals to join our team. You will have access to a line manager who will provide regular supervision and support.
As a service we provide
MDfT for acute diabetic foot complication, In patient provision early intervention of diabetic foot problems with proactive identification of the vulnerable caseloads in primary care access to an evolving and expanding foot protection service including specialist vascular assessment, musculoskeletal assessment and access to non medical prescribers well developed and established education packages providing structured education and diabetes support to the Diabetic population, primary care and community nursingCare Homes training programme in collaboration with Dietitians and TVNs
In addition we also hold musculoskeletal, Rheumatology and Paediatric clinics, Nail Surgery and have access to Podiatric Surgery.

- To ensure effective communication of complex and highly sensitive and emotional information to patients, this requires excellent interpersonal, negotiative and counselling skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required for liaison with team members.
- To work effectively in a multidisciplinary approach with other health care professionals for the benefit of the patient where indicated. This may involve physically working with other professionals (e.g. Diabetes Specialist Nurse or Dietician) or in a closely co-ordinated manner to implement an agreed joint care plan (e.g. with patients Diabetologist/ G.P.). To ensure good communications (regarding professional and medical issues) are maintained at all times to achieve the desired outcome.

- BSc/BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Podiatry or equivalent qualification
- Local Analgesia Certificate
- Evidence of CPD
- Minor surgical skills

- Post Graduate training in the specialist treatment of the diabetic foot (ideally diabetic foot module )
- To complete independent prescriber qualification within 12 months (subject to course availability)

- Experience of MDfT working and leading patient care
- Previous clinical experience in secondary NHS care
- Relevant experience of working with acute diabetic foot conditions.
