East London NHS Foundation Trust

Job summary

The post-holder will work within the IAPT service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to support clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and may work in various community settings, including GP surgeries and community venues.

As an IAPT service we seek to provide ease of access for service users and to this end, there may be a requirement to work flexible hours based on service requirements. Whilst this post is based in Bedfordshire, you may at times be required to provide cover and assistance to other East London Foundation Trust IAPT teams, for example, supervision by the medium of Webex, cross-service training, etc. The post holder will be expected to work constructively and flexibly as part of the Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service team and with colleagues in other ELFT IAPT teams.

PWPs do this through the provision of information and support for evidence-based low-intensity psychological interventions. These interventions place a greater emphasis on patient self-management and are less burdensome then traditional psychological treatments. Examples include guided self-help and computerised cognitive behavioural therapy which may be delivered through face-to-face, telephone, Silvercloud, workshops or other contact methods.

Main duties of the job

CALLING ALL QUALIFIED AND SOON TO QUALIFY PWP'S!! Are you passionate about promoting meaningful and effective therapeutic experiences for patients at Step 2 (in a way that you would hope a loved one to experience) and dedicated to this process both personally and professionally? Then we want to hear from you.

Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service (BWS) is a growing IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service. We have the honour and privilege to deliver idiosyncratic packages of care for our patients in Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service, based on evidence-based therapies proven to be effective at Step 2.

Job description

Job responsibilities

PWPs within the Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service offer initial assessments to patients entering into the service as well as offering Step 2 interventions through cCBT (silvercloud), groups and Guided Self-Help. We work closely with our Step 3 colleagues to ensure patients can move through the service effectively as well as working with third sector partnership organisations to make referrals.

Internal and external training for working within specialist areas at Step 2 is provided. All PWPs are supported within the CPD (Continuous Professional Development) to gain clinical experience in their area of interest and as a service we love to get involved in all PWP matters both locally and nationally. We will support PWPs to work towards their professional registration if needed and provide ongoing CPD for this.

We encourage our PWPs to work on a specialist area of interest such as BAME, Older Adults, Learning Disabilities and Long-Term Conditions. This means PWPs have time in their job plans to help improve access to harder to reach groups and provide regular outreach events. This adds variation and interest in the PWP role.

The service is looking to recruit Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to provide assessment and PWP interventions with people from a range of cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary.
