Job summary
ELFT believes that the role of the Physician Associate (PA) is a crucial part of many of our teams moving forwards. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a cohort of 8 Physician Associates joining our Trust. With newly developed posts available across multiple directorates including child and adolescent services, forensic services, learning disability services and inpatient services, across East London, Luton and Bedfordshire. (Please note that each of these roles will be advertised separately, so please ensure that you apply to the post/posts that you wish to be considered for.) These roles provide an opportunity for enthusiastic Physician Associates to play a key role in the management of patients and to support the effective functioning of the multidisciplinary inpatient and community teams and contribute to wider service developments. Although you may be working in different services, as a part of this PA cohort you will have the opportunity to meet regularly with the other PAs in the trust, for peer support and teaching opportunities, facilitated by the Lead PA at the trust.

The successful applicant will be based in the Child Development Service
Main duties of the job
The Child Development Service provide a range of Community Paediatric clinics including:
- Developmental advisory clinic
- Motor Disorder Clinic
- Neurodisability Clinics for children with complex disability and medical needs
- Autism diagnostic assessment clinics for children and young people with social communication difficulties
- School Medical clinics for children and young people attending Special Schools
- Child Protection paediatric/medical assessments
- Health assessment clinics for Children and Young People in care
- Medical assessment clinics for EHCPs
- Enuresis clinic
In addition, the Community Paediatricians provide statutory Children Protection Medical Assessments for children and young people who may have been subjected to abuse. There is also a Looked After Children team undertaking the initial health assessment of children and young people who come into care as well as review health assessments. Our Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering provides input to the Adoption Panel, Adult Medicals for prospective adopters and medical assessments for children and young people being adopted.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified Physician Associate (PA) who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of a consultant Paediatrician and will be a source of continuity for service users by monitoring developmental and physical health requirements, ensuring that high quality patient care is delivered at all times.

- Undergraduate degree in a health or life science prior to undertaking the Physician Associate programme
- Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Physician Associate studies from an accredited UK training programme
- Evidence of having successfully passed the UK National Physician Associates exam (evidence of six-year recertification exam pass where necessary)
- Registration on the Faculty of Physician Associates Managed Voluntary Register- post qualification
