Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, and motivated CT LAS doctor to join our outstanding inpatient Service.
This post would be ideally suited for a doctor, who has a minimum of 2 years experience in clinical practice, and is interested working in a Trust grade position in psychiatry outside of a Training position.
A successful candidate would have the option of continuing ongoing work in a Trust grade position, or considering the option of applying for Speciality Training in Psychiatry in the future. An alternative career path would be progression as a Trust Grade doctor and with the possibility ofgaining a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) via Article 14 route once required experience can be evidenced in the future.
There are a number of potential CT LAS potential posts are available, meaning that a successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a variety of different settings and locations, with flexibility to work in a post aligned to your area of interest.

Main duties of the job
Specialty Doctor
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Specialty doctors to join our outstanding Inpatient Services in Luton & Bedfordshire.
Successful candidate will have at least 3 year of experience working in psychiatry and have a licence to practice with the GMC.
You will work closely with the ward consultant and be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, encourage to pursue education and experience for your professional development. The post-holder will be encouraged to rotate through different posts on a yearly basis according to service needs, allowing clinical expertise across a range of specialities including community psychiatry. Post holders wishing to progressing through the CESR / Article 14 route to CCT, will be encouraged and supported to do this.

The post holder will: Work within a multidisciplinary setting offering psychiatric medical input in the assessment, treatment and care management of patients, carrying out all general duties including mental state examinations. Provide up to date, effective, safe medical care for patients in order to promote their recovery, and promote their insight with a view to relapse prevention. Provide physical care in liaison with primary care services and the in house GP services. Offer advice and support to other members of the team in issues related to his/her competence and expertise. Work as a leading member of the multidisciplinary team, linking closely with statutory and non-statutory services as required. Adhere to the Trust Clinical Leadership Model with senior clinicians delivery of care within the principle of holistic care. Adhere to all service conditions and local policies. Keep good records, communicate results of assessments to colleagues and write appropriate reports. Provide cross cover for clinical duties of aligned wards to ensure safe staffing levels are maintained when needed. Provide psychoeducation to patients, in conjunction with psychology, OT and pharmacy colleagues.

- Fully registered with the General Medical Council
Desirable
- A higher degree such as MD or PhD
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrists guidelines)
- Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983, or plan to gain approval within 6 months of appointment.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
