Following an unprecedented investment of 20 new posts across all bandings in April 2022 we are looking for SLTs to join our expanding service and our new band 6 development programme.

Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for Speech and Language Therapists with specialist skills and knowledge in paediatrics to join our team. We have a number of newly funded posts across our Early Years and schools service. Successful candidates can express preference for single post in one are or split posts across early years and schools.
We know that progressing to band 6 requires support and have developed a comprehensive clinical and professional role development programme for people new to the band 6 role. You will receive additional training and opportunities to develop band 6 competencies both clinically and professionally within this 12-month support programme.
The Early Years' team offers specialist assessment, intervention and advice for younger children who present with a variety of speech language and communication needs. This includes children with social communication difficulties, developmental language disorder, dysfluency and language delay. Although primarily clinic based the service has strong links with children centres, nurseries and early years' settings where therapist may also be required to work and provide training.

Within the Schools Team, the caseload is varied, split between delivering a core service and a buy in service into the schools. There are opportunities within pre-school, primary and secondary settings where we work in close partnership with school staff to provide a 3 tier model of universal, targeted and specialist support for children, young people and their families. Training for school staff and families is a crucial part of the service we deliver.
We are part of a multi-disciplinary therapies team who work to deliver a high quality service for the children of Newham and their families. Within the Child Development Service, the team work closely with multidisciplinary partners such as Dietitians, Paediatricians, Occupational therapists, Physiotherapist and Specialist nurses,
The post-holder will manage their own caseload and will have opportunity to support more junior staff and students through supervision and competency development. There will be opportunity for the post holder to be involved in service improvement, audit and QI.
The successful applicant will have relevant experience of working with children and families.
