Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced, fully qualified CWP or EMHP to to join our new and developing Primary Care Access Service (PCAS) in North Bedfordshire, part of the Bedfordshire Specialist CAMHS service. We are part of ELFT (East London Foundation Trust), which includes five CAMHS services across East London, Bedfordshire and Luton.
You will help develop and deliver mental health training, continuing support and consultation for primary care settings across North Bedfordshire, mainly being GP Practices. Bedfordshire has a diverse and vibrant community, which will require candidates to show an awareness of and interest in supporting these communities, and to deliver evidence based and innovative care to suit the needs of the local communities.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with GP Practices and other appropriate settings to encourage and help them develop a whole family approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. You will work within a community hub locality, and will contribute to an exciting wider childrens services transformation programme integrating care across childrens services, which includes Early Help, Childrens Health, other Local Authority sectors, and Voluntary services.
You will also provide triage, mental health assessments, effective brief therapeutic support, group work and workshops to prevent moderate to severe mental health problems developing, using the Thrive model. You will be required to be flexible, and be able to travel across Bedfordshire.
The post is embedded in the community, and you will have an attached base in Bedford CAMHS, and be an integrated part of the CAMH Access Services multi-disciplinary services and the wider CAMH Specialist Service.
You will need a relevant professional qualification, with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. You will need experience in working with children and families, preferably in a primary care setting. You will need to be able to operate confidently in an environment where IT is the main method of record keeping, communication and program management.
You will be supported by regular, separate clinical and management supervision sessions, access to a variety of CPD sessions, and annual performance appraisal.
