Newham CAMHS are excited to be recruiting to 2 full time posts as Children & Young Peoples CBT Practitioners within the Mental Health in Schools Support Team (MHST).
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work within Newham CAMHS Mental Health Support Team providing assessments and interventions in and around local schools. It is especially suited to CWP / PWP / EMHPs or those who have professional registration within their chosen profession, for example, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or alternative therapies.
About us
The Mental Health Support Teams are funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools including special educational provisions and PRUs. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health Support Teams will be fully integrated with community CAMHS and educational settings.

Essential
- A minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject e.g. psychology AND/OR a registerable professional qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. medicine, psychology, social work, nursing) from a UK university or overseas professional qualification of an equivalent standard
- Evidence of continuous and relevant professional training and development (CPD), as appropriate with qualification period
Experience
Essential
- Experience in working with children and young people with mild to moderate emotional and behavioural needs.
- Experience of working with families, school and other partner organisation to support young people who may be displaying behaviours that challenge.
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in CAMHS, education or community organisation with a focus on social emotional and mental health needs
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary context
- Experience of working in a specialist or alternative school or education setting
Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of early intervention skills and knowledge in children, young people and family mental health
- Experience of delivering group interventions and psychoeducation in person and virtually
- Basic computer skills: Keyboard skills, Outlook, word, excel, powerpoint, MSTeams and patient records
- Ability to recognise own limits and seek support re supervision as appropriate.
