Job summary
Hackneys population is estimated at 281,100 people. Hackney is a relatively young borough, with a quarter of its population under 20. The proportion of residents between 20-29 years has grown in the last ten years and now stands at just under 25%. People aged over 55 make up only 15% of the population. Hackney is a culturally diverse area with significant Other White, Black and Turkish/Kurdish communities. A large Charedi Jewish community is concentrated in the North East of the borough and is growing. People from Australia, the US and Western European countries like Spain, France and Italy make up the most significant groups who have recently come to live in Hackney from abroad.
We seek to appoint a creative, forward-thinking and motivated psychodynamic psychotherapist to join our Specialist Psychotherapy Service in City & Hackney. The 0.4 WTE and 1.0 WTE is available due to the current post holders moving to another post. We offer hybrid working pattern to staff which will be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
To contribute to assessment of clients referred to the service, and offer both group and 1:1 therapy. This will include online and / or face to face delivery of screening assessments, interventions and specialist assessment and formulation, in line with professional competencies.
To work closely with the locality neighborhood teams to further develop pathways and facilitate the provision of psychological therapy and psychologically informed care to the local population we serve.
To develop and support the psychosocial work of other staff through teaching, training, supervision and consultation.
To provide specialist advice to NHS and voluntary sector agencies concerning the assessment, treatment and management of service users.
To follow defined practices and procedures under the management and co-ordination of the Operational and Clinical Leads.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice.
To take part in Quality Improvement projects within the team.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and research.

Essential
- oCore Health professional qualification (Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, and Psychology) or a demonstrable working knowledge of NHS values, clinical structures in secondary mental health care, referral pathways and the roles of NHS professionals.
- oProfessional registration appropriate to own discipline (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
- oAccredited training as a group psychotherapist or individual psychodynamic psychotherapist.
Desirable
- oTraining in clinical Supervision & Consultation skills.
- oTraining in Mentalisation-Based Therapy
- oTraining in shorter-term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy treatment model such as DIT or IPT.
