Locum Consultant Psychiatrist in Forensic Psychiatry: Tower Hamlets Specialist Community Forensic Team / Woodberry Ward, Low Secure
This is an opportunity to join the well regarded Forensic Service in ELFT, working with a large group of supportive consultants.
You'll work in the community with a well resourced and skilled multi-disciplinary team. The team includes a wide range of specialisms, including the provision of different forms of therapy. You'll look after a small number of patients discharged from secure care, working in the vibrant and diverse community of Tower Hamlets.
You'll also work on Woodberry Ward, a 12 bedded low secure ward, where youll be responsible for patients who have typically spent time in medium security and who are preparing for discharge into the community. You'll work in purpose built low secure unit alongside experienced colleagues.
We would welcome applications from those with an interest in research and/or education. ELFT has strong links with QMUL providing many opportunities for teaching and research.
The post is available from 03 August 2022 for six months.
It is expected that this post will become available substantively within the locum period.
Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will hold consultant responsibility for approximately half of the patients under the care of the Tower Hamlets Community Forensic Team and for the inpatients on Woodberry Ward.
- Will provide clinical leadership to the Tower Hamlets Community Forensic Team and to Woodberry Ward.
- To provide a consultation and liaison service to general adult psychiatric services in Tower Hamlets along with consultant colleagues.
- To carry out a forensic psychiatric assessment of relevant cases referred by general adult psychiatry and of current forensic in-patients as part of discharge planning.

- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.

- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
