Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior trainee / specialty doctor / early career consultant in Community Paediatrics or Child Psychiatry to undertake clinical autism assessments as part of a research project. This post is 9 months fixed-term at 0.6 WTE.

The Clinical Research Associate will support the delivery of the CHATA (Childrens Autism Technology Assisted Assessment) research project: Novel procedures for evaluating autism online in an ethnically diverse population of children and young people.

This is a unique 9-month fixed term 0.6 WTE clinical post within a research team. The Community Paediatrician / Child Psychiatrist will require at least 2 years experience in diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

Main duties of the job

  • Dr Shermina Sayani, Consultant Paediatrician and lead for CHAND - the multidisciplinary ASC pathway for children in ELFT. Dr Sayani will support with integration within existing and future pathways locally, access to clinical data and populations and liaison with the clinical ASC team.
  • Dr and Associate Professor Heys with regard to study management and project-related issues. Dr Heys is a clinically active academic paediatrician working in the community in East London with children and young people with complex neurodisability. Her academic base is GOSH ICH, UCL
  • Dr Jeanne Wolstencroft, Research Fellow Institute of Child Health, University College London
  • Dr Georgia Lockwood-Estrin, Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychology, University of East London
  • Prof David Skuse, Professor of Behavioural and Brain Sciences at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, and Honorary Consultant in Developmental Neuropsychiatry at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
  • Dr Julie Proctor Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Deputy Clinical Director for East London ELFT Children's Services and Head of Service for SCYPS will support service issues should they arise and she works clinically in the ASC pathway
