Job summary

Newham Perinatal Mental Health Team has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Practitioner to join us. The post holder will be responsible for our intensive pathway, which focuses on supporting our high risk service users with MDT input and guidance. The post holder will also be involved in our on- going partners assessment clinic. Newham Perinatal Mental Health Team, is continuing to expand and develop this year in line with the Long Term Plan, so this will be a great opportunity to join us and be part of our development.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that all borough service users over the age of 18 years who are pregnant, have infants under one-year-old, receive appropriate perinatal support for themselves and their baby. The main objective of the post is to provide mental health interventions to pregnant women and/or their partners/significant others. As a member of the multidisciplinary Perinatal Mental Health Service, the post holder will work constructively with colleagues to ensure a carefully planned 'safety network' of care is available for parents and babies. To deliver this in a manner that is competent, compassionate and recovery focused. This will be done through:

  • Direct work with perinatal women - assessment, treatment, planning and review, as part of our service intensive pathway.
  • Establishing needs of partners
  • Joint work with other staff
  • Advice and consultation to other staff
  • Attending perinatal CPA meetings
  • Liaison work with maternity services
  • Linking with the Named Professionals for Safeguarding Children, Psychiatric Liaison Team and other relevant staff
  • Promoting the development of Perinatal Mental Health services in assigned locality

Essential

  • oEvidence of professional qualification in nursing/Occupational Therapy or social work
  • oEvidence of professional registration
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development including recently in perinatal mental health practice and safeguarding children practice
  • oEducated to degree level or equivalent

Desirable

  • oClinical supervision training
  • oQualifications/ training in specialist skills e.g. therapeutic/ psychological interventions

  • oSignificant post qualification experience
  • oExperience of managing a caseload of service users via CPA with evidence of completing high quality assessments
