Newham Secondary Care Psychological Services delivers a comprehensive NHS Psychotherapy Service for people presenting with severe and complex mental health problems. We provide a high quality clinical service, where flexible and complex interventions are available across a range of therapy models and modalities, which are accessed via health professionals in the community.
The service offers a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioural, arts, integrative, systemic and psychodynamic psychotherapies, and a range of groups across the modalities. The service offers supervision and consultation to mental health professionals and runs a placement programme for trainee psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists.
We are looking for a Psychologist to work with the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Team. Experience of working with complex mental health problems in NHS settings is essential. The job offers a great opportunity to further your skills in CBT; as well as regular clinical supervision, there are forums for support and professional development. The post holder will also be actively involved in consultation, teaching and training. The psychologist will monitor and evaluate treatment offered to service users. They will participate in an area of the service delivery within the team, with the support of the CBT Lead.
Main duties of the job
.Provide and receive highly complex information (related tomental health and CBT) to individual, groups, and large groupsof service users, relatives, carers, members of the public andprofessionals.Develop and maintain close professional therapeutic relationships with Service Users using advanced psychotherapy skills to bring about lasting psychologicalchange.Have specialist theoretical and practical clinical knowledge ofCognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Education, Training Qualification
Essential
- Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Desirable
- Formal qualification in CBT.
- Formal qualification in another model of psychotherapy
- Formal training / qualification in trauma therapy e.g. NET / EMDR.
- Formal basic training in teaching, lecturing or clinical supervision.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with patients from moderate to complex mental health conditions.
- Any experience providing teaching, training or supervision in CBT
