Job summary
The Consultant Nurse for Older People is an exciting opportunity for you play a key role in Consultancy and care across Older People's Services within East London foundation Trust. The consultant nurse role will work closely with senior leaders across the care pathways to promote clinical excellence through clinical Leadership and practice, education and training and research. You will act as a source of clinical and nursing expertise in the care pathways & care of older adults living with frailty to all groups of professionals, championing and promoting awareness of frailty and the needs of older adults across the trust.
You will autonomously assess and treat patients; ordering and interpretation of investigations and non-medical prescribing; demonstrate complex reasoning, critical thinking and independent decision making to manage the complex needs of this client group.
You will have a key role in developing the older people's workforce, and supporting delivery of care that is in line with best practice. Collaborating with the learning and development team and other education providers to formulate a clear development pathway and skills portfolio for nurses to ensure consistent care, and the application of safe, contemporary, evidenced based practice.
Main duties of the job
We are linked to Bedford and City University and as a key component of your role you will lean into the universities with regards to teaching and research.
We have a variety of services which include community health, primary care, and mental health the post holder will support shared learning and connection between services to improve the outcomes for older people.
We have significant dementia inpatient services and are part of the Admiral Nurse Nursing model.
You will work closely with the director of nursing, clinical leads and the medical lead for older people trust wide.
We are looking for an experienced high skilled nurse who has experience of and is passionate about high quality older people's care. An ability to lead quality improvement projects and impact clinical care.
