Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Dramatherapist to join our Arts Psychotherapies Team. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is committed to contributing to a high quality and effective arts therapy provision across Tower Hamlets both within the adult in-patient mental health unit and in the community.
Tower Hamlets is currently taking part in the Community Mental Health Transformation project. This aims to ensure that service users gain access to support in a timely manner, and involves developing closer links between Primary and Secondary Care, statutory and voluntary sector services, the NHS and Social Care. This will involve the Arts Psychotherapy Service also developing closer links with neighbourhood teams to contribute to their offer to clients with a wide range of mental health needs.
The post is likely to suit someone who is committed to working creatively and safely with a diverse client group who experience complex mental health needs. We need someone who can work autonomously, is committed to forming links and collaborating with other services as well as work dynamically within teams. We would welcome applications from people who are reflective and can consider the therapeutic relationship and the impact the work has on them. A sustained level of energy, enthusiasm and resilience is expected to succeed in this role.
Main duties of the job
- Develop and provide Arts Therapies to service users with a range of mental/health needs in a range of settings as required, employing the following specialist skills:
- Plan and develop specialist Arts Therapies with a particular focus on group work in liaison with the Lead Arts Therapist and Multi-disciplinary colleagues
- Assess referred service users, plan and deliver Arts Therapies interventions whilst taking into account risk factors, complexity of presentation, service user's need and service priorities.
- Use own clinical skills to contribute to the overall treatment and personal recovery goals for the service user during and beyond Arts Therapies input.
- Where required by the Multi-disciplinary team, facilitate reflective practice, joint assessments and joint working.
- Contribute own specialist knowledge from assessment and treatment to the overall care plan for each service user through contribution to clinical meetings e.g. ward rounds, CPAs, tribunals, via written reports, as well as verbal feedback to teams
