Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and creative HCPC registered psychologist to work with service users with long standing and highly complex needs and who understands the importance in this context of systemic work and consultation.
The post holder will provide consultation and supervision for placement providers where the person is struggling with behaviours that challenge. There will also be opportunity, where appropriate, to offer specialist psychological assessment and formulation, and brief therapy interventions. We are looking for someone with extensive experience of working with adults who have severe and enduring mental health difficulties, co-existing conditions, and who may require specialised programmes of care.
The post holder will be committed to supporting the work of the wider psychology service in seeking to provide a high quality, equitable and culturally competent service.
Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist psychology service to service users referred to the City & Hackney Rehabilitation & Recovery Team. More specifically:
- To provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy, offer advice, supervision, training and consultation on psychological care planning to the team and to other workers connected with the team.
- To formulate and implement plans for psychological treatment and management of problems faced by client
- To offer psychological interventions for individual patients, carers and group within and across teams
- To evaluate and decide on treatment options considering theoretical and therapeutic modes and historical, developmental and cultural processes and systems that have shaped the individual, family and community.
- To offer consultancy from a psychological perspective to the team and workers offering supported accommodation to CRRT clients
- Be responsible for recording, monitoring and reporting clinical work and communicating complex information to a variety of recipients
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients as appropriate.

Essential
- Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- Registered with Health Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Clinical supervision training for doctoral psychology trainees
- Additional relevant clinical and/or managerial knowledge and skills acquired through formal training, long or short courses, formal supervision (individual and/or group), structured self-study or experience (or a combination of these) to an appropriate level approved by the Head of Psychology and demonstrated by certification, documented supervision logs, management appraisal documentation and/or assessment at interview
Desirable
- Further training in a therapeutic modality/ways of working relevant to complex mental health e.g. trauma, addictions, homelessness, community psychology, assertive outreach
- Further training in psychometrics and neuropsychological assessment and intervention.
