Job summary

The post provides numerous opportunities to develop consultation and liaison and training skills and clinical expertise and experience. As well as jointly delivering a service with probation colleagues, the post holder will work closely with the wider forensic psychological therapies team, and will have additional opportunities to develop complementary community skills and experience.

This is a permanent post.

The post will be hosted by East London NHS Foundation Trust, which has a national reputation for excellence, and offers wide-ranging opportunities for mental health practitioners within its teams.

Main duties of the job

  1. To contribute to all activities and responsibilities of the psychology department, including psychological and risk assessments, formulations, treatment planning, and management and delivery of interventions.
  2. To engage with opportunities to develop competencies and contribute to the development of others through specialist training, multidisciplinary meetings, reflective practice group, staff support group, and clinical supervision
  3. To be committed and contribute to therapeutic community model of treatment
  4. To develop consistent and helpful working relationships with colleagues and patients, facilitating communication and managing conflict and challenges that arise.
  5. To develop awareness of risk factors in relation to offending, as well as issues relevant to physical, relational, and procedural security
  6. To maintain professionalism and boundaries

  • oPostgraduate doctorate in Clinical or Forensic Psychology, or equivalent qualification such as Statement of Equivalence, leading to eligibility for Chartered status, or Depending on training needs, may hold a professional qualification in psychology and be undertaking further training to complete requirements for a Statement of Equivalence

Desirable

  • oPre-qualification training in a relevant field of applied psychology

  • oExperience of providing specialist psychological assessments and treatment interventions to people with with complex problems

  • oExperience of teaching, training, and/or supervision
  • oExperience of working in a range of care settings, including outpatient, inpatient and community
