Community Paediatric dietitian for Complex Needs

Job summary

Specialist Children and Young People Services (SCYPS) provides a range of community based services to support infants, children and young people who reside within the London Borough of Newham. SCYPS works across five centres within Newham, as well as schools and children centres. This post will be based in Appleby Health Centre, E16.

Main duties of the job

The SCYPS Dietetic team holds a large caseload comprising of children from birth up to 19 years of age requiring tube feeding and those with complex needs. The children we see may present with:

Neurological conditions

Neuromuscular conditions

Syndromes and metabolic diseases

Congenital abnormalities

Oncology

Developmental language disorder, social communication difficulties, including autism

Supported by the Band 7 HETF Dietitian and overall Dietetic team lead, this post-holder will primarily lead the non-tube fed complex needs caseload, the majority of whom have a diagnosis of autism/ASD and behavioral feeding issues.

**The service is currently going through a period of expansion and change; This post has now been made substantive within the service - the post-holder will continue to lead the ongoing service development of the complex needs service including the development of clinical operating procedures, processes and pathways.

About us

The Dietetic team currently comprises one 1.0 WTE band 7, two 0.5 WTE band 6 and a Dietetic assistant (bank) plus admin support.

The post-holder will support the Band 7 team lead with home enteral feeding caseload when required.
