Job summary

The Newham Early Intervention in Psychosis Service works to support clients aged 18-65 who have recently experienced a first-episode of psychosis. We are recruiting for an experienced 8a psychologist (12-months fixed-term initially). This vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for the right clinical/counselling psychologist to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions to both service users and their carers, and to provide a psychological perspective within the NEIS team. If successful, you would work alongside and be supported by several other NEIS psychologists, and receive regular specialist clinical supervision from an experienced senior psychologist. You would be part of an integrated, well-established, dedicated MDT based in Canning Town, east London. To support your continuing professional development all successful candidates will be put forward for additional training in both CBTp and Family Interventions. There is also the opportunity to access a wider variety of special interest and supervision groups relevant to the post. You will work to serve the diverse population of Newham, and this vacancy provides an opportunity for you to think creatively to develop solutions to meet the local mental health needs.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist evidence-based intervention to service users, including CBT for psychosis and Family Intervention.
  • Provide individual and group supervision to psychologists and other MDT staff as appropriate.
  • Provide psychologically-informed opinions, formulations, consultation, supervision and teaching to team members within NEIS as appropriate, and in agreement with the NEIS Lead Psychologist.
  • Be involved in service development, evaluation and research across the team.
