Job summary
Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service (BWS) is an integrated IAPT service providing a range of IAPT approved interventions.
The successful candidate will work within the IAPT service providing low-intensity interventions at Step 2, whilst attending a training programme provided by the University of East Anglia. Throughout the training, the successful candidate would learn how to provide a range of low-intensity CBT interventions to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The post-holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider (2 days per week), as specified within National Low-Intensity curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining 3 days of the week, using their newly-developed skills
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Have you got experience in a care setting? If so, the PWP role may offer you a great career development opportunity. We welcome applications from candidates who do not have a degree or who may not have recent study experience or qualifications, but who do have good experience in a caring capacity such as in a support, care or an admin role, for example, and who are interested in supporting patients with anxiety and depression in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) self-help.

The trainee PWP position includes undertaking PG and UG certificate in evidence based low intensity CBT at UEA (depending on prior qualifications)

As an IAPT service, we seek to provide ease of access for service users and therefore, some of your working weeks be located in a community base such as GP surgery/community centre co-facilitating groups. In addition, based upon the needs of clients accessing the service there may be a necessity to work some of your hours flexibly e.g. 1 evening a week and/ or 8 stars.
The duration of the PWP trainee course is one academic year and will be provided by the University of East Anglia. The course start date is 14th March 2022.
There is a requirement for the successful candidate to gain PWP Professional Registration through BABCP or BPS once they have qualified as a PWP.
Attendance at all UEA teaching days is compulsory and annual leave cannot be booked for UEA teaching days. Attendance is monitored and to ensure adequate development of competency trainees must ensure that their attendance does not fall below a set minimum. The UEA course starts on 154h March 2022 with an induction week and all candidates will need to be in post by then.
After initial training to become a qualified PWP, further internal and external training for working within specialist areas at Step 2 is also provided at BWS. All PWPs are supported within the CPD to gain clinical experience in their area of interest and as a service we like to get involved in all PWP matters both locally and nationally.
