Are you passionate about nutrition and helping families improve their children's health? Join our supportive Paediatric Dietetic Team at Stepping Hill Hospital, where you'll lead small, nurturing group coaching sessions for parents and carers of children with limited or restricted diets. You will provide guidance on the nutritional needs of children, offering practical advice and helping families navigate dietary challenges.
You'll also assist with the processing of feeding tubes and prescribed feeds, ensuring children receive the essential nutrition they need.
Throughout your role, you'll receive ongoing support and supervision from our small team of specialist dietitians, ensuring you have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.

Main duties of the job
In this role, you will work closely with families, delivering tailored nutrition education and support in small group settings. You will assist with coordinating feeding equipment, including prescribed feeds and feeding tubes, and ensure accurate records are maintained. The role requires excellent communication skills, both in guiding parents through nutritional challenges and working with the wider healthcare team. You'll need a compassionate, patient-focused approach and the ability to build rapport with families. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential for managing nutritional supplies and patient records. A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are key qualities we are looking for.

In this role, you will support the Paediatric Dietetic team by assisting in the delivery of group education sessions for parents and carers of children with limited or restricted diets. Under the supervision of a dietitian, you will lead small, interactive groups, providing nutrition education tailored to each familys needs. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the processing of feeding tubes and prescribed feeds, managing the supply of nutritional products, and liaising with healthcare professionals, such as GPs and community nurses, to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of services. You will also maintain and update electronic records, inputting measurements such as weight and height, and conducting nutritional analyses using specialised software.
Additionally, you will provide follow-up support to families, monitoring childrens progress with nutritional care plans via phone or face-to-face consultations. Your role involves close collaboration with dietitians, medical staff, and childrens therapy teams to ensure the best possible care for patients. You will assist in organising appointments, booking rooms for group sessions, and communicating with referring healthcare professionals. This position requires strong organisational skills, as you will need to manage competing priorities and ensure all aspects of patient care are documented accurately.
You will be expected to work efficiently and sensitively with parents, addressing their concerns, answering questions, and offering guidance on their child's nutritional needs. The role will also involve maintaining confidentiality and adhering to strict health and safety protocols. As a member of the Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetic Service, you will contribute to the development and implementation of patient education programmes and quality improvement initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to assist in training new colleagues and dietetic students, helping them integrate into the service. Regular communication with the wider healthcare team and participation in audits and departmental initiatives will be key to enhancing service delivery.
