Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our experienced team of specialist physiotherapists within our Integrated Stroke Therapy Team and Medicine & Surgery Team. This split post will see the successful candidate working as part of a large, busy acute and rehabilitation stroke service located in the Primary Stroke Centre at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust as well as providing specialist Neuro assessments within the Medicine & Surgery Therapy Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and flexible team player with excellent communication skills. Experience of neuro rehabilitation, respiratory physiotherapy, and working within acute medical teams and an integrated stroke team is essential. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an adaptable approach to an ever changing complex environment whilst meeting national guidelines and stroke standards.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work within a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist complex clinical assessments, physiotherapy treatment and advice to patients with complex neurological needs. You will also be expected to have excellent communication skills using a variety of media to discuss needs and progress with patients and relatives.

You will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload, including those with highly complex needs and will supervise and support the band 5 therapists with caseload management. You will be expected to support the Education of colleagues in the management and treatment of a variety of neurological conditions You will ensure patients are prioritised and managed appropriately and timely discharge plans are made by liaising closely with the wider team and other agencies.

The Stroke service covers 7 days comprising of rostered weekend working. You will also be expected to participate in the Respiratory On-Call Service.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across Stockport and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Where possible, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act
